Dynamics of Power

Power manifests itself in many ways in modern industrial society.   From the power of advertising to fuel consumerism to the destructive power of warfare to the violation of human rights for political gain to the funding of scientific research to the domination of the bottom line and Wall Street in running corporations.   It is a destructive force both for humans and the environment yet a necessary force to bring change.   Without significant sharing of power among those who have little power in present arrangements, all other system conditions are subject to degradation.    Power is also related to knowledge about the effects of our interdependence.  The synergy of different centers of power acting together provides a greater force than the sum of the parts.
